Hmmm been a while, hasn't it.

The shop has been open for three months now, so I thought it time to let you know how it's been going.

Fantastic, great, I love it!!!

We have had a wonderful response from customers, they are all very impressed by our beautiful spacious building and our range of stock.

Take a look inside.

Great First Week

Needle 'n Thread Dunedin is OPEN!!

Our first week has past and what a great week it was.
So many keen and positive happy ladies and a few men as well.

Here are a couple of photos taken from the office upstairs.
The long arm quilter was in action on opening day along with the Sweet Sixteen quilting machine.

The Pfaffs had some good interest, especially the embroidery machine.

Some of the classes are filling up and our first clas Mr Claus starts this weekend.

A huge thanks to all the ladies who have visited us this past week, we look forward to seeing you all again.

Setting Up

I have several requests from loyal followers to do a post.

So here it is!!

The last two weeks has been like Christmas, with parcels and boxes and cartons arriving for the new shop.

There have been days that I have called myself Sadie the cleaning lady and other days where I
have not exactly been a lady, cursing at the pricing gun and the instructions for assembeling stands.

But I have to say the excitement is building as each day we get a little closer to July 23RD, opening day.

These pictures were taken at the beginning of the week, so there is a huge difference
in the shop since then.
Some yummy fabrics and books and threads.

This space is nearly full now and I have to show you some of the classes we will be running.
We have permission to do these cute wee guys, the class is early October and a limited number.
The same tutor also has permission to teach Snowdrop, isn't she just gorgeous.this class is also early October.

This Santa class is early August and is the first class we will be running in our brand new classroom.

Can't wait!!

Next week we get to unpack all the pfaff sewing machines and have some training, I do hope this old brain can take it all in.
I will let you know how I go.

Have a great weekend.

A Bit Behind

I said I would tell you what I have been up to, in my last post.
A retreat at Pudding Hill, Methven, with Sarah Fielke.
Run By Fennella at Stitch and Shiree at The Rowan Tree.

I have to say it was one of the best retreat weekends I have been to, thanks so much ladies.

Loads of colours and loads of inspiration.

All the girls chose projects from Sarahs book and she was on hand to give advice and mini tutorials.

I was the ring in for the weekend and was made to feel very welcome.

And managed to find a project to start.......I KNOW!!!
 A house quilt by sweetwater.

Then on Sunday I had a go at the no ruler thing, something I really don't cope with very well.
We made some blocks of THE BURBS from the Material Obsession book number 1.

So much fun and right out of my comfort zone.

I think some of the ladies from Queenstown would have loved this retreat.

It's on the cards for next year, so look out for the dates.

Keep an eye on the design wall when the shop opens, you may find a whole neighbourhood up there one day.

Just Yummy

A new patchwork, come quilting, come gift shop in Gore.

The Art of Craft, has been open for a couple of weeks now and I had the chance to call in today.

Beautiful window displays.

And even more exciting things instore.

Owner Sandi Craw has made the inside of her shop just so tempting.
Beautiful fabric, lovely giftwear, antique buttons, trims books, I could go on and on.
But I won't.

You will just have to go see Sandi and take a look for yourself.

Well done Sandi, just LOVE your shop.
Can't wait to come back.

The Big News!!!

With yesterday being Anzac Day and a public holiday, I spent a good part of the day planning, measuring having lunch and planning.

Here is what you have all been waitnig for.

This is 441 Princes Street, the new home of Needle 'N' Thread, Dunedin.

My husband and I have gone into a partnership with Betty and Ivan from Timaru.
They own Needle 'N' Thread in Geraldine.

The shop is going to be something else, so much space for all that loveliness.

This is the side of the building and downstairs there is the same space as upstairs, for a classroom.

There are going to be some busy times ahead of us and loads of fun to be had.
Keep coming back and I will give you a progress report on what we are up to and when we plan to open.

I can tell you it's not far off!!

With Anzac Day yesterday I took some pics of the poppies still flowering in my garden and spared a few silent thoughts.
